Madi & Quin | The Wells Barn Engagement

I think engagement sessions are wonderful, and I always recommend couples not to miss out on them. Besides an opportunity to get some amazing photos, including the perfect shot for your save-the-date card, it’s even an opportunity for you to connect and celebrate this special moment in your lives before the wedding planning starts. Similarly, while they were there for the photo shoot, Madi and Quin also used their engagement session at The Wells Barn as a chance to spend some quality time and have some fun together. And I don’t blame them! With lush gardens and the sweet smell of the flowers in the air, The Wells Barn has such a romantic vibe to it. It’s a perfect place to reconnect with nature and each other.

Madi And Quin’s Engagement At The Wells Barn

One of the best bits about engagement sessions is the amount of time you get to experiment with the shots. Even though I always make room for wedding day couples portraits, there’s not much I can do when we are running short on time. At engagement sessions, all the spotlight is reserved just for the couple, which means a variety of poses, backdrops, locations, and even outfits!

Madi and Quin chose to subtly coordinate their engagement session outfits, which I loved! One of Madi’s outfits was an easy-breezy white summer dress, which she later switched with a blue and white dress. Quin’s outfits matched Madi’s color palette, and it was a perfect match for the photos. These two looked at each other with so much love, so it was super easy to showcase their chemistry in the images.

The Wells Barn has so many picturesque spots, so we took a walk through the venue to ensure we didn’t miss anything. From the vibrantly colored flowers to the lush green vines, the natural beauty at The Wells Barn has to be the highlight of this place, and I wanted to make sure that it reflected in Madi and Quin’s engagement photos too.

One thing that stayed constant throughout the photo shoot was the mood my couple was in. These two just couldn’t stop smiling (and dancing), which was, of course, great to see, but it’s also always heartwarming to witness this kind of love. I feel that to bring out the true essence of a couple, I just have to let them be. I enjoy photographing moments as they unfold because there’s a different kind of beauty that exists in between the poses. So whether I capture them right before they are about to kiss or as they whisper sweet nothings into each other’s ears or break out into an impromptu dance sesh - I aim to show my clients’ true nature. I followed the same principle while photographing Madi and Quin too. And that’s how I was able to capture these lovebirds laughing, gazing into each other’s eyes, and even showing off some dance moves.
