Dami and Itunu's Engagement Session in Cincinnati

Whether you use it as a way to be camera-ready for the wedding day or to simply remember this special time in your lives, as a photographer, I encourage all my couples to go for an engagement session. It's such a wonderful way to celebrate your love and commitment. And for those whose daily lives keep them busy from spending quality time together, an engagement session gives you the opportunity to do that too.

You can choose to take photos at your favorite spots around your city, or we could leave the city behind and head to a spot surrounded by nature, OR we can do both! Either way, your engagement session is about celebrating you as a couple, and yes, in the process, getting some photographs that you can show off to your friends and family too!

Dami and Itunu are a perfect example of how you can completely personalize your engagement session with me. The charming couple, who chose me as their engagement photographer, was such a breeze to work with, and even though we planned a relatively simple shoot together, we had so much fun through the process.

Dami and Itunu's Engagement Shoot

College sweethearts Dami and Itunu met at the University of Cincinnati, so it only made sense to walk around the city to take their engagement photos. What was even more special about this shoot was that we started at Graeter's Ice Cream, the place where they went for dates in the early stages of their relationship. This is one of the best things about engagement shoots! You can simply pick a spot that you have a special connection with and let the photos tell your story. For me, storytelling is an integral part of photography, and adding a unique and personal touch to the shoot makes your story even better!

Once we were done shooting around the streets of Cincinnati, the couple changed into formal clothes, and we headed to John Roebling Bridge Park and finished at Ault Park. And this brings me to another reason why I recommend engagement sessions! Besides going to different locations, you can also carry an extra outfit and add variety to the photos. This way, you have more options for your save-the-date cards and Instagram too!

From the city streets to the shoot at the parks, Dami and Itunu made each other laugh the whole time. I got some adorable photos of the two just giggling! And in the middle of the shoot, they would sometimes switch to a more romantic mood where they held hands and lovingly looked into each other's eyes. So for me, they struck the right balance. Towards the end of the shoot, they even started dancing! That was such a sweet moment to photograph, and I think the photos perfectly convey their joy. The lush greenery, a grand fountain, and the stairs in the parks were a great addition to the images too.
