Gabriel and Travis | Columbus Engagement
If I had to sum up this recent engagement shoot I did for Gabriel and Travis in a phrase, I’d just say rainbow and hearts! When you take a look at the images, you’ll know why. Exploring the beautiful city of Columbus with my clients is one of my favorite things to do. From the iconic Scioto Mile, which is basically a string of verdurous parks with fountains and trails on either side of the Scioto River, and art and exhibition spots to hip and creative scenes of downtown, Columbus has so much to offer. Just moving around the city and visiting all these gorgeous places while I photograph my clients fuel me with creativity and inspiration. I was lucky to get an opportunity to soak in the city’s vibe once again when my couple Gabriel and Travis got their engagement session done in Columbus. Hands down, this session was all about building Gabriel and Travis’s story through subtle expressions and simple poses with the vibrant city adding its charm in the background. From highlighting the couple’s personalities and bringing out their strong bond through photos to creating their portraits against some of the most beautiful landmarks in the city, this session was all fun and joy. And the images we got, as a result, turned out to be super impressive!
Columbus Engagement Photography
Gabriel and Travis are so amazing! They truly seemed to be made for each other, and I could totally see that when I photographed them during their engagement session in Columbus. They were so happy in each other's company and couldn’t stop smiling throughout the photo shoot. This was something that not only boosted my spirits but also made my couple's images come out livelier. The two held hands and hugged each other, and the ways their eyes locked was pure magic! It’s a different feeling to witness your couple getting so comfortable in front of the camera and letting their genuine selves shine through as you create their portraits. It's a complete win-win situation for everyone involved and leads to some stunning pictures (which is exactly what we got).
My couple sat down for a few pictures, while for the others, I photographed them standing or walking leisurely on the streets of Columbus. They were such perfect models that I didn't have to worry about giving them many posing instructions. Their body language and expressions were all so natural that depicting their love for each other in the photos turned out to be a cakewalk for me as well.
I loved the efforts Gabriel and Travis put into deciding their looks for the engagement photo shoot. They both opted for two different looks, while mostly sticking to lighter shades for their ensemble. And this gelled so well with the concrete structures I photographed them against and also the Scioto Mile bridge, which I included in the shoot to add some architectural elements to the images. On the other hand, the shades of my couple's attire provided a perfect contrast to the striking backgrounds - be it the greenery around or the colorful murals downtown. Oh, the wall art! So, so arresting - and blending so well with the overall feel of the session. Remember the rainbow and hearts I hinted at in the beginning? This mural at S 5th and E Main looks so cheerful and offers one of the most vibrant photo ops in town, and I loved creating my couple's engagement images against it. The photos we took there turned out to be so lovely and romantic and beautifully showcased the bond between Gabriel and Travis. I hope my couple likes these images as much as I loved creating them. Thanks to the amount of fun I had with these guys during the engagement session, I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in Chicago next year, which is where they live.
