Dolapo & Jordan's Nigerian Wedding

Dolapo & Jordan's Nigerian Wedding

Every time I photograph a wedding from a different culture, I feel utterly blessed to be in a profession that gives me the opportunity to document people’s lives through my images. It is such an honor to meet brides and grooms from different walks of life and learn about their cultures and traditions. Their customs and rituals tell me so much about the world, filling my heart with gratitude and wonder for the diverse practices I get to encounter. And, I experienced something similar once again while photographing Dolapo and Jordan’s beautiful Nigerian wedding. My couple, who lives in NYC, celebrated their big day at the LeVeque Hotel and the Confluence Boathouse in Columbus. Photographing my couple and their lovely guests at these two incredible locations got me some striking images!

My bride, Dolapo, is Nigerian and works in the fashion industry. And I was told that Jordan fell in love with her at first sight. On one of their initial dates, he actually told her that he would one day marry her. Jordan, that is so incredibly romantic - and it must have worked its magic on your ladylove immediately! I’d love to hear more!

Coming to the D-Day, my couple’s wedding was a multi-day event - and this was the first day. It was a Thursday when Dolapo and Jordan had a traditional Nigerian ceremony. And the gorgeous emerald green wedding attire my couple wore only added to the look and beauty of the images. Also, shooting at the LeVeque Hotel and the Confluence Boathouse offered me so many picturesque backdrops to pose my couple against. The wedding party and many of the elderly guests were also dressed in traditional attire, adding so much more charm to the already elegant wedding.

The reception at the Confluence Boathouse was classy. The arrangements were so well-thought-out and brilliantly designed. I loved how everyone enjoyed the wedding. Right from the younger bunch to the older guests, they all were so involved in my couple’s big day and celebrated them with all their hearts. Dolapo and Jordan’s wedding was such a lively affair, with something interesting going on every moment.

I always feel like I've grown as a human being, and I'm so lucky to experience weddings across cultures. At this point, I've shot everything from Indian and Jewish to Greek and African weddings. And, every time I’ve been wowed by something new and beautiful, which makes me look forward to my next wedding story with equal excitement.

Dolapo and Jordan, you two are beautiful inside out, and I loved photographing your gorgeous wedding. The venues were amazing and your guests were such a friendly and fun group. I also enjoyed taking photos of your other wedding event at the Statehouse where Dolapo donned a traditional wedding gown and Jordan graced the occasion in a tux. I’d soon share those lovely images here. I want to thank you for trusting me with your wedding photography and giving me a chance to play my little role in your sweet love story. Also, I want to give a huge shout-out to Kodjo from Kodjo Arts Videography. I love this guy and shoot quite a lot of weddings with him, and it’s always a great experience working with him. Dolapo and Jordan, I wish you both a happy life together!
