Molly & Greg's Scioto Mile Engagement

Molly & Greg's Scioto Mile Engagement

As a photographer, I love it when couples celebrate their engagement through photography. Because just like your wedding, your engagement is special too. And documenting all those beautiful moments of love and commitment through images is a great way to ensure that your memories are preserved and remind you of the warmth you share as a couple, even years later. And therefore, when my couples take interest in aspects such as locations and backdrops even for the engagement photo session, I have so many reasons to be happy! The location and the backdrop play such an important part in bringing out the story you want to tell as a couple - especially if the place has an association with your story or is close to your heart for any other reason.

I’m so glad that Molly and Greg chose the incredible Scioto Mile in downtown Columbus for their engagement session. This urban oasis along the Scioto River, with its parks and fountains, had so many details to offer to the images we created! And if that wasn’t enough, we even had a spell of shower greet my lovely couple as a good-luck charm. Added bonus - stunning images in the rain!

Scioto Mile Engagement Photography

Photographing Molly and Greg at the Scioto Mile was a delightful experience. We started at the Hilton Downtown before venturing out into the rain at night. The couple portraits I took of Molly and Greg, both indoors and out on the streets, had so much charm and chemistry. My photogenic models were absolute naturals in front of the camera, and their well-coordinated classy, understated attire blended so beautifully with the surroundings.

Molly and Greg’s engagement session gave me so much scope to get creative with the lighting. Be it posing my couple against the wooden frames illuminated with warm backlighting, photographing them on the bridge with the twinkling lights of the city in the backdrop, or capturing their romantic moments amid gleaming raindrops, I enjoyed experimenting with the lighting. To be honest, I love using creative lighting at night during engagements and weddings. And I am thrilled to have gotten impressive portraits of Molly and Greg, and the gorgeous romantic rain portraits of my couple stand out for me. If romancing in the rain had an image, for me, it had to be this! It was pouring, but my couple braved the rain. By the end, we just found ourselves getting soaked with no umbrella. Molly and Greg, I loved how you two were such a sport and up for anything! And their high spirits gave me the chance to create some breathtaking images of my couple against the majestic cityscape. I think the photos turned out like some iconic posters straight out of a romantic movie! With such an amazing couple and the striking backgrounds that every scene had to offer, I had no reason to complain.
