Mbali & Dak's Columbus Engagement Photography

What do you do when you get not one, not two, but three striking locations to create engagement portraits of your gorgeous couple? Get super excited and try to make the most of the diverse, picturesque settings at your disposal! That’s exactly what I did when Mbali and Dak chose me to be their engagement session photographer and picked three beautiful locations in Columbus for their photo shoot. We covered the Jeffrey Mansion, Scioto Mile, and Ohio Statehouse during the course of the session and had plenty of fun in the process. While Jeffrey Mansion offered us some breathtaking historical architecture and verdurous surroundings, the Greek Revival building of the Ohio Statehouse also provided us with stunning backdrops for the portraits. The iconic Scioto Mile was impressive as usual and helped me add an element of symmetry to my compositions. Oh! What a lovely day it was, and photographing my couple was such a breeze!

When I met Mbali and Dak for the engagement photography session, I just knew that we were going to have a great time and create some stellar photos together. And that’s how it turned out to be! My couple was so happy and excited throughout the session, and their energy kept me in high spirits, driving me to photograph some deeply romantic pictures of these two lovebirds.

I loved the efforts Mbali and Dak put into this session to make every image count. Be it their choice of locations or their looks for the shoot - everything was flawless. They came up with two different looks, and man! They were awesome! Their first look was classy and seemed to be something straight out of a cocktail party. Mbali and Dak looked stunning in their respective outfits, and the photos I got of them exuded elegance. For their second look, my beautiful couple slipped into two gorgeous custom-made African attire in bright, large prints. I think it was a great way of singing praise to their culture and going back to their roots through photos. And my couple did it so perfectly!

From photographing Mbali and Dak against majestic white pillars of the Ohio Statehouse to highlighting their strong bond around earthy concrete structures at the Jeffrey Mansion, I enjoyed it all. Creating my couple’s photos against those pretty red-bricked walls was so much fun too, and their clothes gelled so well with the surroundings, giving the images a visually pleasing and cohesive look.

Highlighting my couple’s charming personalities through photography was an honor for me, and their bright smiles made it easier for me to do so. And let me add here that Mbali and Dak are one photogenic couple! Their confidence in front of the camera was a joy for me to witness, and their natural, organic expressions showed how happy and comfortable they were with each other. The photos we created at Scioto Mile also turned out to be so incredible, and as a photographer, the abundant natural lighting was a bonus for me.

Throughout our session, the way my couple looked at each other with admiration and love, the way they held hands, embraced, and kissed each other, was so beautiful! And it made for some gorgeous engagement photos. Mbali and Dak, I love you both and hope that the two of you like your engagement images as much as I enjoyed photographing them.
